TWIN FALLS - The College of Southern Idaho Softball team beat College of Southern Nevada 14-4 in five innings and 9-7 Friday in Scenic West Athletic Conference play.
The two wins improve the Golden Eagles overall record to 22-10 and conference record to 14-4.
CSI used the long ball in both games to put runs on the board. The Golden Eagles had three home run in game one and two in game two.
Leading the way in the first game was
Nicole Renner. The freshman knocked two out for three RBI.
Hailey Hicks added a home run and finished the game with two RBI.
Erin Emanuel had a solid game, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI.
In the circle,
Samantha Riesen earned the win, giving up five hits and four earned runs with three strikeouts in five innings.
Game two looked like it would be all CSI again, as the Golden Eagles jumped out to a 7-0 lead through two innings. But Southern Nevada slowly climbed back into the game, plating a run in the third inning and two in the fifth. CSI answered with a run in the bottom of the fifth before the Coyotes pulled within one run in the top of the sixth, scoring four unearned.
The Golden Eagles added one in the bottom of six for some breathing room and
Stefani Zimmerman shut the door in the top of the seventh to preserve the win.
Emanuel kept her bat hot, hitting two home runs with four RBI. The only other multi-hit player at the plate in game two was
Madi Ford, who finished 2-for-4.Zimmerman earned the win in the circle, giving up eight hits and only one earned run with seven strikeouts.
