TWIN FALLS - The College of Southern Idaho Softball Team dominated offensively and got clutch pitching from
Kylie Jones in relief to take two games Saturday from the College of Southern Nevada 10-6 and 15-9.
Leading the way at the plate was
Nicole Renner and
Erin Emanuel.
Renner pounded two home runs in game one with a double, but came up with the biggest hit to end the game. With the score tied at 8 and the bases loaded, Renner hit a walk-off grand slam to give the Eagles the 10-6 game-one win.
In game two, the Coyotes walked Renner four times to go with an infield single.
Emanuel was 2-for-4 in the first game but got even hotter in the second game, where she hit two home runs and a triple with six RBI.
Melanie Groenewegen and
Sarah Phillips also hit homers in game two.
While the bats carried the team all weekend, Jones made sure the Golden Eagles brought home two wins Saturday.
The freshman came into the first game with CSI and Southern Nevada tied at 6 in the fourth inning. She gave up just one hit and no runs the rest of the way to record the win.
In game two, she entered the game with CSIÂ trailing 8-4 in the third inning. She finished the game, giving up just three hits and one run in 4.1 innings for her second win of the day.
CSI, now 24-10 overall and 16-4 in Scenic West Athletic Conference play, travels to league-leading Salt Lake Friday and Saturday. The Bruins only conference loss of the season came at the hands of the Golden Eagles the opening weekend of league play.
