PRICE, Utah - The College of Southern Idaho Softball found ways to secure two wins Saturday against USU Eastern 11-8 and 6-3 in Scenic West Athletic Conference action.
The Golden Eagles utilized three pitchers in game one to earn the win. In game two, CSI scored six runs in the top of the first inning and then just held on as its offense went stagnant.
Erin Emanuel shined at the plate in the first game. The sophomore shortstop finished the game 3-for-3 with a walk and five RBI. She hit a home run and a double.
Nicole Renner added a home run in her 2-for-4 performance with three RBI.
Melanie Groenewegen also was solid. She finished 2-for-2 with three RBI and a walk.
The Golden Eagles needed four runs in the top of the seventh to get the win.
Samantha Riesen earned the win after coming in to pitch in the fourth inning and shutting out the Eagles the rest of the way.Â
Riesen also got the win in game two. The sophomore gave up just three runs with 5 Ks in the second game.
At the plate, no one had a multi-hit game. Mikelle Magalogo hit a three-run home run in the first inning and
Katie Basinger has a two-rbi triple in the first inning.
CSI, now 20-10 overall and 12-4 in league play, host College of Southern Nevada Friday and Saturday.
