TWIN FALLS - The College of Southern Idaho Baseball team fell to USU Eastern Thursday 4-3 and then bounced back to take game two 1-0 in a Scenic West Athletic Conference doubleheader.
The Golden Eagles jumped on the board quickly in game one, taking the 3-0 lead in the first inning. But that would be all the runs CSI would score until the eighth inning of game two.
CSI out-hit the Eagles of Price 7-4, but the defense committed a couple errors that led to two of USU Eastern's runs.
Leading the way at the plate for CSI was
Trevor Lippard (2-for-3 with 2 RBI) and
Travis Bohall (2-for-4).
Pitchers
Alec West-Guillen and
Mason Foltz combined to give up just four hits and two earned runs with six strikeouts. West-Guillen earned the loss on the mound.
Game two was a pitcher's duel. Neither team scored through seven innings. The Golden Eagles finally pushed what would be the eventual game winner across the plate in the eighth when
Colin Gordon singled to score
Kelton Christensen.
CSI's
Ryan Beard earned the no decision, going 6.0 innings and giving up five hits, no runs with nine strikeouts and just one walk.
Tyler Rosas came in to the game in the seventh and pitched the final three innings, earning the win. Rosas gave up no hits with two strikeouts.
The Golden Eagles, now 12-12 overall and 5-5 in league play, host USU Eastern Friday at noon for a doubleheader.
