TWIN FALLS - The College of Southern Idaho fell to Colorado Northwestern 8-5 and then bounced back for a 10-2 run rule Friday in Scenic West Athletic Conference play.
The Golden Eagles jumped out to a 2-0 lead in game one but watched it disappear in the second inning when the Spartans countered with five runs. CSI pulled within one run but then gave up three runs in the seventh and couldn't rally.
Nicole Renner finished the game 2-for-3 with a home run.
Erin Emanuel was 2-for-4 with two RBI. The Golden Eagles out-hit Colorado 12-7 for the game.
Game two was all CSI and it started with a dominating performance by Stephanie Zimmerman. The freshman pitcher gave up just one hit with three strikeouts and two runs.
At the plate,
Katie Basinger was 3-for-3 and
Jaici Bishop was 2-for-2. The Golden Eagles tagged Colorado for 12 hits.
CSI hosts Colorado Northwestern CC Saturday at 1 p.m. for a doubleheader.
