RANGELY, Colo. - The Golden Eagles Baseball team fell to Colorado Northwestern 5-3 before losing to the Spartans 12-2 in a run rule on the road in Scenic West Athletic Conference play.
The Spartans pitchers held CSI to just three hits in the opener.
Cody Barkdull,
Brett Resch and
Jordan Freese posted a hit apiece.
The Golden Eagles looked like they would roll in game two, taking the 2-0 lead in the first inning. But that would be their only two runs and CNCC scored four in the fourth,  three in the fifth and five in the sixth to run rule CSI.
Again CSI managed just three hits - one apiece from Freese,
Trevor Lippard and
Blake Sanchez.
The Golden Eagles gave up just six hits but that coupled with six walks, three hit by pitches and two Spartan home runs doomed CSI.
CSI, now 2-4 in SWAC play, get a chance at CNCC again on Saturday in a doubleheader beginning at noon.
