TWIN FALLS, Idaho - Eleven players scored in double digits in helping the College of Southern Idaho Men's Basketball team to a 199-118 win over Planet Athlete and an all-time scoring record in the Coca-Cola Invitational Friday.
The Golden Eagles shattered the previous scoring record of 160 points set Jan. 3, 2008 against the University of Montana Western. CSI also knocked down 20 3-point field goal, besting the previous record of 19 set against North Idaho College Dec. 11, 2004. The 87 rebounds the Golden Eagles pulled down Friday beat the previous record of 82 set against Treasure Valley CC Dec. 21, 2007.
CSI was led by
Keegan Hansen's 27 points, eight rebounds and four assists.
Roberto Gittens added 25 and
Charles Jones Jr. had 23.
Not only did
Nico Aguirre Urritia finish the game with 10 points and eight assists, he knocked down the record-setting 3-pointer with eight seconds remaining in the game.
Malik Porter (12 points and 16 rebounds) and
Tomas Domingos (13 points and 14 rebounds) both finished the game for CSI with a double-doubles.
The Golden Eagles, 8-1 overall, host Western Wyoming Saturday at 7:30 p.m. It will be a special evening as we honor current and past military members.
