TWIN FALLS, Idaho - The College of Southern Idaho bounced back from a sloppy first half to get past Arizona Western 62-49 Saturday in the Idaho Central Credit Union Invitational.
The Golden Eagles shot just 20 percent from the field in the first half and committed 15 turnovers but still led by one point going into the locker room. With a much more disciplined second half, CSI shot 39 percent from the field and turned the ball over three less times.
Jamie Nielson led the Eagles with 15 points and six rebounds. Tiena Afu added 14 points and 14 rebounds, along with four steals. Meghan Hughes finished with a balanced game, posting three points, seven assists, seven rebounds and four steals.
The Golden Eagles out-rebounded Arizona western 45-38 and forced the Matadors into 30 turnovers.
CSI hosts the Coca-Cola Invitational Friday and Saturday.
