TWIN FALLS -
Brianna Osorio came close to a quadruple double in leading the College of Southern Idaho Women's Basketball team past USU Eastern Thursday 77-45 in Scenic West Athletic Conference action.
The Golden Eagles jumped out to a 13-2 lead to start the game and appeared they wouldn't be challenged. But a pesky Eagle squad from Price, Utah, battled back, out-scoring CSI 9-1 to close out the first quarter with the Golden Eagles leading just 14-11.
Both teams traded baskets to a 19-19 tie three minutes into the second quarter. But that would be as close as USU Eastern would get. CSI closed out the quarter on 16-6 run and never looked back.
Osorio had another great game, finishing with 27 points, eight rebounds, eight steals and seven assists. Teammate
Tiena Afu added 12 points and 13 rebounds.
Ariel Augustine knocked down three 3-pointers for CSI, finishing with 12 points and seven rebounds, while
Jane Nelson also made three 3-pointers en route to 14 points and four rebounds.
The Golden Eagles out-rebounded USU Eastern 49-42 and forced the Eagles into 24 turnovers compared to 11 for CSI.
CSI's defense also shined, holding USU Eastern to a 26 percent field goal percentage and a 17 percent 3-point field goal percentage.
The Golden Eagles, now 12-5 overall and 3-0 in conference play, take on Salt Lake CC Saturday in Salt Lake. Both teams are undefeated in SWAC play.
