TWIN FALLS - Realizing the record was within reach,
Jake Hendricks' teammates fed him the ball with 21 seconds to go as he drained his 10th 3-pointer of the game to lead CSI past USU Eastern 95-73 Friday in Scenic West Athletic Conference play.
With that final bucket, Hendricks tied the all-time CSI record in a game with Ricky Clemons. Clemons was 10-for-16 against Utah Valley State College on Feb. 1, 2002.
Hendricks started the game on fire, making his first three 3s. But he followed that with a dry spell that lasted the rest of the half. For the half, he was 3-of-8.
He would miss a 2-pointer and a 3-pointer before his touch returned. with 17:42 left in the game, Hendricks made his fourth of the game and rolled from there. He would finish with 30 points (10-of-20 from 3-point range) and five rebounds.
Three other CSI players finished in double-digit scoring led by
Charles Jones Jr.'s 17.
Casdon Jardine and
Jonathan Nwankwo each added 10.
Jones Jr. had a team high eight rebounds.
The Golden Eagles, who have made an unreal 197-of-522 3-pointers in their 17 games, added 18 tonight.
CSI, now 15-2 overall and 2-1 in league play, travel to Salt Lake CC Saturday.
