HENDERSON, Nev. - The College of Southern Idaho Volleyball team found a way to overcome adversity and beat New Mexico Military Institute 25-19, 25-23, 21-25, 21-25, 15-7 and then rolled past Central Arizona 25-14, 25-20, 25-11 at the College of Southern Nevada Tournament.
The Golden Eagles jumped out to a first-set victory against NMMI, hitting .480 with just two errors. But an injury to setter
Morgan Weatherwax forced CSI to switch from a 6-2 offense to a 5-1 and the Golden Eagles struggled to stay in system, surviving with the two-point win. But the momentum had shifted and NMMI took the next two sets as CSI hit .079 in set three and .000 in set four. Â CSI dominated the fifth set though, finishing with 12 kills and just one hitting error to pull out the win.
Alycia Wodke finished the match with 17 kills and 18 digs. Jojo Kruize had 13 kills and 12 digs.
Against Central Arizona, the Golden Eagles used their size to overpower the Vaqueros. Wodke again led CSI, finishing with nine kills and 12 digs.
Tannah Bair finished the match with six kills.
Kelee Call added five kills and two blocks.
CSI, now 12-3 overall, play Glendale at Noon MST and Colby at 2 p.m. MST Saturday.
