SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - Behind three two-out home runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, the College of Southern Idaho Softball team came back to beat Snow College 10-5 in the Region 18 Softball Tournament Wednesday.
The Golden Eagles trailed 4-0 after the first inning, giving up all four unearned on four CSI errors combined with two hits and a hit by pitch.
With two outs and the bases loaded in the second inning, it looked like Snow might score again. But
CheyAnne Dahl came into the game to get the strikeout and end the threat.
CSI pulled within two runs in the third when
Abby Toller walked and
Savannah Kirkpatrick hit a 2 rbi home run.
Snow countered with a run in the fifth before the craziest inning of the season happened.
With two outs in the bottom of the sixth and runners on first and third, the Golden Eagles put together a rally that will be talked about for awhile.
CSI Head Coach
Nick Baumert pinch hit
Haylee Eskelson. She drove a pitch over the fence to tie the game. Then
Skylar Cook got on with an error and Toller singled. That's when Kirkpatrick hit her second home run of the game to put the Golden Eagles up three. But CSI wasn't done. With a new pitcher into the game,
Katie Basinger took first on an error and then
Jaici Bishop hit the third home run of the inning to give the Golden Eagles the 10-5 lead they wouldn't relinquish.
Dahl earned the win in the circle, going 5.1 innings and giving up just three hits and one earned run.
CSI plays Salt Lake CC Thursday at 2:30 p.m. in the undefeated game.
