TWIN FALLS - The College of Southern Idaho Baseball team struggled to get anything offensively going in game one against Salt Lake, falling 9-0. But bounced back to gut out a pitchers' duel, winning game two 2-1 in the bottom of the ninth.
In game two, the Golden Eagles and Bruins combined for just five hits into the bottom of the ninth inning and a 1-1 tie until CSI was able to breakthrough.
Jake Boyd walked to lead off the inning and
Braydon Torres-Moore sacrificed Boyd to second. That's when
Joey Rossi laced the game-winning rbi single to left center to give CSI the walk-off win in the bottom of the ninth.
Rossi accounted for two of the Eagles four total hits in the game.
Mason Hayes and
Trevor Lippard each added one hit.
Ryan Beard pitched almost flawless through 8.1 innings, giving up just two hits and one unearned run with eight strikeouts.
Parker Loutensock came in to shut the door.
CSI never could get going in game one. The Golden Eagles finished the game with just three hits. Salt Lake countered with 11 hits, scoring four runs in the second, one in the fifth and two in the sixth and seventh.
The Golden Eagles move to 17-16 overall and 4-14 in Scenic West Athletic Conference play. CSI hosts Salt Lake Saturday at noon and 2 p.m. for another doubleheader.
