HENDERSON, Nev. - After a frustrating opening series loss Friday to Southern Nevada, the College of Southern Idaho came back to beat the Coyotes 12-1 and 7-4 Saturday in Scenic West Athletic Conference play.
The Golden Eagles received solid hit production in the 2-3-4 spot of the lineup to run rule CSN in the opener.
Skylar Cook (2-for-4, 1 RBI);
Abby Toller (3-for-3, 3 RBI); and
Savannah Kirkpatrick (2-for-4, 2 RBI) came up big. Toller finished with a double and a home run.
In the circle,
CheyAnne Dahl followed her day one performance with another great game. The sophomore lefty gave up just one earned run on six hits.
The second game was a battle until CSI created breathing space in the top of the seventh. With a 4-3 lead, the Golden Eagles took advantage of a couple errors and big rbi hits by
Sarah Phillips and Basinger to take a 7-3 lead into the bottom of the seventh.
Southern Nevada loaded the bases on a single, walk and hit by pitch, but
Kelsey Christensen came in with two outs to get the final out and preserve the win.
Samantha Riesen pitched a solid game for the Eagles giving up three earned runs on five hits.
At the plate, Phillips finished 4-for-4 and
Katie Basinger was 2-for-3.
The Golden Eagles improved to 22-9 overall and 13-3 in SWAC play.
