RANGELY, Colo. - The ninth-ranked College of Southern Idaho Softball team made it a weekend sweep Saturday by beating Colorado Northwestern 6-1 and 9-0 to improve to 8-0 in Scenic West Athletic Conference play.
The Golden Eagles offense continued to score runs, finishing the day with 18 hits. But it was the CSI pitching that dominated.
Kelsey Christensen and
CheyAnne Dahl combined to give up just five hits and no earned runs on the day.
In game one, CSI led by just a 2-1 margin heading into the fifth. But a 3-run fifth inning created some distance and Christensen shut the door in the circle.
Skylar Cook and
Abby Toller each had singles in the inning and
Jaici Bishop and
Savannah Kirkpatrick posted doubles. For the game Toller and Bishop were each 2-for-4.
Much like the first game, it took the Golden Eagles several innings to score many runs. CSI scored runs in the first and third innings to take a 2-0 lead into the fifth. That's where all the damage was done. The Golden Eagles scored seven runs in the fifth and held Colorado in the bottom half to secure the run rule.
With two outs, CSI scored all seven runs topped off with a 3-run homer by Toller.
Kirkpatrick finished game two 2-for-3 at the plate and
Madi Ford was 2-for-4.
The Golden Eagles host Snow College Friday and Saturday.
