TWIN FALLS - The College of Southern Idaho Baseball team lost an extra-inning heartbreaker 2-1 Saturday to Colorado Northwestern and then lost 5-0 in game two.
The Golden Eagles and Spartans battled through eight scoreless innings in game one of a pitchers duel. In the ninth both teams broke into the scoring column. CNCC scored two in the top of the ninth. With one out, CSI's
Jake Boyd laced a double.
Joey Rossi followed with an rbi single. But that would be as close as the Eagles could get as CNCC retired the next two hitters to end the game.
Alex West-Guillen pitched a gem for CSI, going seven scoreless innings, giving up just two hits with nine strikeouts. But he would receive a no decision as the Eagles gave up the winning runs in relief.
Boyd was the only CSI player with multiple hits in the game, going 3-for-4 with a walk and the only run scored.
Game two was all CNCC as the Spartans scored three runs in the first inning and never looked back. The Golden Eagles finished the game with just three hits.
CSI, now 14-9 overall and 1-7 in SWAC play, go on the road next week.
