RANGELY, Colo. - The ninth-ranked College of Southern Idaho Softball team continued to roll, beating Colorado Northwestern 9-4 and 12-1 Friday in Scenic West Athletic Conference play.
The Spartans were coming off their best start ever with a 7-3 overall record and a 3-1 conference record, setting up a great matchup.
The two teams battled to a 4-4 tie through five innings in game one before CSI scored one in the sixth and added four in the seventh to pull away.
Taylor Tahbo finished the game 2-for-4 with a double, triple and two RBI.
Abby Toller and
Madi Ford, also were 2-for-4.
Kelsey Christensen earned the win in the circle, giving up three earned runs on three hits.
Game two was all CSI.
CheyAnne Dahl was nearly perfect in the circle for the Golden Eagles. The sophomore gave up just two hits with seven strikeouts in just five innings of work because of the run rule. Her one run was unearned.
Dahl got plenty of help from her offense as Tahbo finished 2-for-2 with a double and three RBI and Toller was 2-for-3 wth a double.
Savannah Kirkpatrick finished the game 2-for-4 and Ford added another double.
CSI, now 15-6 overall and 6-0 in SWAC play, plays CNCC Saturday at noon and 2 p.m.
