CSI Softball beats two ranked teams Saturday

ODESSA, Texas - The 18th-ranked College of Southern Idaho put together two complete games offensively and defensively Saturday, beating #15 Midland 17-2 and #10 Odessa 7-5.
The Golden Eagles used a huge 14-run third inning to run away with the first game.
Jaici Bishop was 4-for-4 with two rbi and a double. Erin Emanuel was 3-for-3  with a double, a triple and two rbi. Haylee Eskelson finished with a pinch-hit 2 rbi home run for the Eagles.
In the circle, Kelsey Christensen gave up just four hits and two earned runs.
The second game was a lot closer as the Eagles got a huge out with the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh to escape with the win.
CSI took a 7-0 lead into the bottom of the sixth. But Odessa battled, scoring four runs on four hits and one CSI error. To that point, CSI's CheyAnne Dahl had been almost perfect in the circle. The left-hander had given up just two hits all game. With Odessa starting to hit the sophomore, Samantha Riesen came into to stop the damage to get a ground out and get out of the inning.
Odessa again made a run in the seventh. Scoring one run on an error, two walks and a ground out. With two outs Dahl re-entered. She walked the first batter she faced before getting the third out on a pop up to catcher and giving CSI the win.
Dahl earned the win in the circle, giving up seven hits and two earned runs with two strikeouts.
Emanuel finished the game 4-for-4 with three rbi and a home run. Cassidy Basinger was 2-for-4 with two doubles.
CSI improves to 7-6 overall. The Golden Eagles next play March 1 at home against Treasure Valley.
