TWIN FALLS - The College of Southern Idaho improved to 7-2 overall with a routine 3-0 win against Prairie followed by a 7-6 12-inning marathon win Friday in non-conference action.
CSI trailed early in game one before a big seventh inning gave the Golden Eagles a 6-5 lead. Prairie answered with one run in the eighth and neither team could plate a run until the bottom of the 12th.
With one out,
Cody Barkdull singled to shortstop and stole second. After a pop-up by
Cody Schmidt,
Blake Sanchez singled to right field for the game-winning rbi. Barkdull, who finished the game 3-for-5 with two rbi, also earned the win on the mound, entering the game in the top of the 12th. He struck out two and gave up no hits or runs.
In game one, the Golden Eagles did all their damage in the fourth inning.
Mason Hayes led off the inning with a single before advancing on a wild pitch.
Cody Barkdull singled to center field advancing Hayes before
Kody Garvin flied out to left field to score Hayes on a sacrifice fly. Barkdull stole second,
Quentin Marcelin singled to shortstop and then stole second. After a Golden Eagle strikeout,
Jake Boyd reached on an error and both Barkdull and Marcelin scored for CSI's final tally.
Ryan Beard earned the win on the mound, throwing the shutout and finishing with three strikeouts.
CSI hosts Prairie again Saturday for a double header, starting at noon.
