HOWARD, Texas - The College of Southern Idaho Softball team had little trouble getting its bats going Thursday in a doubleheader with Howard College, but neither did Howard as the two teams split. Howard won game one 18-10. CSI won game two 15-10.
The Golden Eagles looked in control of the first game, leading 9-4 heading into the bottom of the fifth. But Howard responded with five runs in the fifth and nine runs in the sixth to get the win.
Erin Emanuel finished 1-for-3 with a home run and 3 RBI.
Taylor Tahbo,
Savannah Kirkpatrick and
Cassidy Basinger each went 2-for-4 at the plate.
In game two, the Golden Eagles posted 15 hits. After falling behind 10-8 in the bottom of the fourth inning, CSI scored five in the top of the fifth and held on.
CSI used the long ball to beat Howard.
Jaici Bishop and
Savannah Kirkpatrick each hit two home runs. Bishop's grand slam in the top of the fifth gave CSI the lead it never relinquished.
Kirkpatrick finished 4-for-5 with three RBI.
Katie Basinger also had a solid game at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI.
CheyAnne Dahl earned the win in the circle, posting four strikeouts.
The Golden Eagles improve to 4-4 overall.
