PRICE, Utah - The College of Southern Idaho Men's Basketball team fought back to send the game into overtime and double overtime but ran out of magic in double overtime, falling to USU Eastern 101-100 Thurday.
Tied at 98, USU Eastern knocked down a 3-pointer with five seconds left to play. The Golden Eagles dribbled the length of the court and made a layup at the buzzer, falling one point shy.
Free throws doomed CSI in the second overtime, where the Golden Eagles managed just 1-of-6.
Until that time, CSI was 17-22, including two huge free throws by
Gloire Biongo to send the game into the first overtime.
In the first overtime,
Ar'Mond Davis scored from long range to give CSI a two-point lead as time was running out but USU Eastern answered with a drive that put them to the line for two. USU Eastern made both and CSI's game-winning attempt at the buzzer fell short setting up the final overtime.
Davis finished the game with 34 points and seven rebounds for CSI.
Shaq Carr added 26 points and 10 assists. Biongo came up one rebound shy of a double-double, scoring 12 points and pulling down nine rebounds.
CSI drops to 19-8 overall and 7-5 in SWAC play. The Golden Eagles, standing in third place, are one-and-a-half games behind Salt Lake and one game ahead of Snow College.
