HENDERSON, Nev. - What a difference a day makes. The 18th-ranked College of Southern Idaho Softball team came out swinging Saturday in the second day of the College of Southern Nevada Tournament. CSI run ruled Scottsdale 19-3 and Central Arizona 8-0 before falling to Arizona Western 5-4 on a walk-off hit in the bottom of the seventh.
Against Scottsdale, CSI posted 14 hits in the game with three home runs.
Jaici Bishop hit her second home run of the weekend, finishing the game 3-for-3.
Cassidy Basinger and
Madi Ford, each went 2-for-3 with home runs as well.
In the circle,
Kelsey Christensen earned the win, giving up just three runs with two strikeouts.
The Golden Eagles appeared to be in a pitching duel early against Central Arizona, with the game scoreless into the fourth inning. But the Golden Eagles got hot, scoring three in the fourth and five in the fifth to end the game.
Savannah Kirkpatrick finished the game 3-for-3 with one RBI. The best performance of the game though was by
CheyAnne Dahl in the circle for the Golden Eagles. She had six strikeouts with just one walk and gave up only five hits in the shutout.
CSI looked in control early against Arizona Western, taking a 4-2 lead but the Matadors tied it up in the fourth and the Golden Eagles couldn't plate another run. It came down to the bottom of the seventh with one out, Arizona Western brought across the winning run.
Basinger brought in three of the Golden Eagles runs with a home run in the top of the third. CSI scored their final run in the top of the fourth on a Bishop RBI single.
CSI, 3-3 overall, will be off for two weeks before traveling to Texas for a three-day tournament.
