HENDERSON, Nev. - Not having a full outdoor practice until Thursday caught up with the 18th-ranked College of Southern Idaho Softball team Friday. The Golden Eagles fell to #8 Pima 11-3, beat #2 Eastern Arizona and lost to Yavapai 7-1.
Against Pima, CSI jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning and headed into the bottom of the fifth tied at 3 apiece. But a few errors and timely hits by Pima led to five runs in the fifth and three in the sixth to end the game.
Abby Toller had a solid game at the plate, going 1-for-2 with a triple and two RBI.
Skylar Cook also went 1-for-2 with a triple.
The Golden Eagles jumped out to a 5-0 lead against Eastern Arizona and never looked back. CSI led 9-0 before EAC scored.
Jaici Bishop led the Eagles at the plate, finishing 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBI.
Taylor Tahbo also had a good game, going 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI.Â
CSI again battled in its third game of the day, trailing just 2-1 going into the sixth inning. But Yavapai scored six runs in the sixth and one in the seventh and the Eagles couldn't counter
Savannah Kirkpatrick scored the only CSI run with a solo home run. CSI actually finished the game with just one less hit than Yavapai. But the Golden Eagles had five more strikeouts.
CheyAnne Dahl had a solid day in the circle, finishing with 11 ks but came away with two losses, while
Kelsey Christensen posted the lone win in the circle.
The Golden Eagles play three more games Saturday in the two-day tournament.
