TWIN FALLS - The College of Southern Idaho shined on Tuesday in its first Scenic West Athletic Conference matchup, beating #8 Salt Lake 25-18, 19-25, 25-20, 25-17.
The Golden Eagles had a slight hiccup in game two but came back out after the break and took care of business to improve to 16-2 overall and 1-0 in conference play.
Tawnee Luafalemana continued to spark the Golden Eagles, finishing the match with 15 kills, four blocks and two aces. The middle blocker was joined in double digit kills by
Alexandra Espinosa (13 kills) and
Alycia Wodke (12 kills).
Larissa Dos Santos added nine kills in the Golden Eagle attack.
Luana Thompson led the defense with 12 digs. Espinosa added 11.
Regan Harr finished the match with 47 assists and nine digs.
CSI's served tough all night, forcing the Bruin defense into 14 reception errors. Thompson had four aces for the Eagles, while
Micquel Blattner added three.
The Golden Eagles host North Idaho Friday at 7 p.m. before traveling to Ontario, Ore. to play Treasure Valley and Spokane CC.
