HENDERSON, Nev. - The College of Southern Idaho baseball team fell in a quick hole 2-0 in the first inning of the Region 18 Tournament, but Golden Eagle pitcher
Mason Hilty shut the Spartans down the rest of the way and the CSI offense got going, helping CSI to a 6-2 win Thursday.
The Golden Eagles then fell to tournament host and top-seeded Southern Nevada 6-4 later Thursday.
In the win, Hilty was dominate most the game, giving up just five hits with seven strikeouts.
At the plate,
Bodie Cooper finished 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI.
Cole Walters was 3-4 with one RBI and
Cody Jenkins was 1-for-3 with a triple and one RBI.
Against Southern Nevada, Z. Draper threw well in the loss. He gave up just five hits in 5.1 innings and four earned runs with two strikeouts.
Offensively, Cooper went 1-for-3 with a home run and
Cameron Coombs was 1-1 with an RBI.
CSI will play the loser of Salt Lake and Western Nevada Friday at 4:30 p.m. MST.
