TWIN FALLS - The College of Southern Idaho baseball honored the sophomores prior to its final regular season home game and then preceded to beat Salt Lake CC 5-3 Saturday.
It looked early like it might be a high-scoring game with both teams scoring two runs in the first inning. But then neither team scored in the second or third innings.
The Golden Eagles took a brief lead in the bottom of the fourth when
Cody Jenkins doubled to to center field and
Mikey Ortega singled him in.
Salt Lake tied the game in the top of the fifth before CSI took the lead for good in the bottom of the fifth.
Harrison Ramey singled,
Bodie Cooper walked and Cody Garvin got the rbi single.
The Golden Eagles added an insurance run in the seventh inning.
Both
Cody Jenkins and Ortega finished the game 2-for-4 at the plate.
On the mound, Tyler Burdet threw 4.0 innings, giving up seven hits and one earned run.
Parker Loutensock earned the win, going 5.0 innings, giving up two hits, no runs with four strikeouts.
CSI travels to Southern Nevada to compete in the Region 18 Tournament Thursday through Saturday.
