TWIN FALLS - The #4 College of Southern Idaho softball team dug itself into a 6-0 hole to start game one Friday but put on a hitting show in the third inning, scoring 13 runs and eventually winning game one 15-6 before taking game two 4-2.
The Golden Eagles finished the third inning with home runs by Shea Ibrahim and Cassidy Basinger and a grand slam by Kayla Carter.
Carter ended the game going 2-for-3 with five RBI. Ibrahim was 2-for-5 with four RBI and two homes runs.
Brytni Gurney pitched in relief, earning the win. She went 3.1 innings and gave up just one hit.
In game two, hits were at a premium. With the score 1-0 going into the bottom of the fourth off a Abby Toller home run, CSI built a cushion that withstood. Savannah Kirkpatrick hit a three-run home run to give the Golden Eagles the 4-1 lead. Western Nevada scored one more run in the top of the seventh on a home run before Kelsey Christensen closed the door. Christensen gave up just five hits and two earned runs with three strikeouts.
The Golden Eagles host Western Nevada Saturday for a doubleheader at noon.
