TWIN FALLS - The College of Southern Idaho completed a four-game sweep of Southern Nevada to stay a half-game behind league leading Salt Lake. The 7th-ranked Golden Eagles beat 13th-ranked Southern Nevada 5-3, 7-2, 10-2 and 7-3 Friday and Saturday.
CSI used the long ball in game one, getting two home runs from
Kayla Carter and one from
Markii Ashton.
In game two Carter added another home run and
Savannah Kirkpatrickfinished with two doubles and
Shea Ibrahim had one.
On Saturday,
Abby Toller went 2-for-3 in game one,
Carley White went 2-for-4 and
Amanda Sheets ripped a triple. The Golden Eagles added two more long balls in game four with
Shea Ibrahim knocking her 12th of the year out of the park and
Abby Toller adding another one.
CSI pitchers
Kami Merrill and
Kelsey Christensen did a solid job all weekend keeping Southern Nevada's potent offense in check.
Merrill gave up just one earned run in game one with five hits and two earned runs in game three with four hits, while Christensen threw a 3-hitter in game two and a seven-hitter in game four.
The Golden Eagles improve to 25-8 overall and 13-2 in conference play. CSI will host #2 Salt Lake Friday and Saturday.
