TWIN FALLS - The fourth-ranked College of Southern Idaho Women's Basketball team started slow Friday in its opening game of the Coca Cola Invitational but pulled away to beat Athleticz Allianz 78-60.
The Golden Eagles held just a five-point lead after the first quarter but extended it to 13 points at the half and never looked back.
Kandiss Barber led CSI with 24 points, 15 rebounds, two assists, two blocks and two steals.
Alexia Mefi added 10 points and seven rebounds.
Ma Kenzie VanSickle shot the ball well from beyond the arc, finishing with three 3-pointers and 11 points along with five rebounds and two assists.
Matti Ventling also had a good night, posting seven points, seven rebounds and five assists.
The Golden Eagles play Williston State College Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Williston State held a 16-point lead over USU Eastern Friday in the second half but a tenacious defense produced transition buckets and allowed USU Eastern to comeback and take the 80-73 win.
