TWIN FALLS - The College of Southern Idaho Women's Basketball team posted another impressive showing Saturday in the Idaho Central Credit Union Invitational, beating Arizona Western 75-55.
The Matadors went toe-to-toe with the Golden Eagles through the first quarter as the teams were tied at 16. But CSI went on a 16-6 run in the second quarter and never let Arizona Western back in the game.
CSI came out of the locker room and
Kandiss Barber hit three straight field goals early to extend the Golden Eagle lead. CSI led by as much as 27 points with six minutes left in the game.
Barber led CSI with 14 points and 15 rebounds.
Brianna Osorio added 11 points, 12 rebounds and six assists. The brightest spot for the Golden Eagles was probably the assist to turnover ratio. CSI distributed the ball well, finishing with 27 assists to just 13 turnovers.
Ma Kenzie VanSickle led CSI with seven and Matti Ventlin added six. Ventling also scored 11 points in the contest.
Alexia Mefi played just 17 minutes, getting in foul trouble early in the first half. But she ended the game with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
The Golden Eagles host Treasure Valley Tuesday at 4 p.m. before hosting the Fisher's Technology Invitational Thursday.
