EPHRAIM, Utah - The 3rd-ranked College of Southern Idaho men's basketball team led just two minutes and 41 seconds Thursday night but it was when it mattered most as time ran out and the Golden Eagles beat Snow 74-70 in Scenic West Athletic Conference action.
CSI took its largest lead of the game with 1:09 on the clock when
Keonta Vernon scored on a putback. But 12 seconds later Le'Jon Johnson knocked down a 3-pointer for Snow to pull within two.
After misses by both teams,
Pape Diatta was able two hit two of four free throws in the last 22 seconds to give CSI its final tally.
Snow out-rebounded the Eagles 37 to 23 for the game but CSI was able to force 25 turnovers.
Four CSI players finished in double figures -
Tyson Smith (13),
Keonta Vernon (12),
Ar'Mond Davis (12) and
Fredrick Edmond (10).
Diatta led the Eagles with six rebounds.
The win takes CSI to 19-0 overall and 4-0 in league play, heading into a huge matchup with #15 Salt Lake Saturday. Both teams are undefeated in SWAC play.
