TWIN FALLS - In a battle of two top 10 teams, the #2 College of Southern Idaho men's basketball team finished on top, beating #9 Gillette 82-80 Friday in the Fisher's Technology Invitational.
Fredrick Edmond shouldered the load for the Eagles, scoring 28 points and pulling down 12 rebounds.
The Golden Eagles took a 14-point lead in the first half but watched that evaporate and the teams traded leads eight times and had the score tied nine times.
Up one with 16 seconds to play,
Shaq Carr knocked down 1-of-2 free throws to give CSI the final tally as Gillette's 3-point attempt with time running out was blocked by
Tyson Smith.
Carr ended the night with 16 points for CSI. The only other Golden Eagle in double figures was
Ar'Mond Davis with 11 points. He added eight rebounds.
CSI, now 12-0, will play Mt. Hood, who beat Westwind Prep 78-73 in overtime.
