TWIN FALLS - Second-ranked College of Southern Idaho men's basketball beat North Idaho 78-64 Saturday to open up its Scenic West Athletic Conference campaign.
The Golden Eagles started each half slow but used a tenacious press to pull away and extend their lead both times.
CSI forced 21 turnovers and out-rebounded the Cardinals 47 to 40.
Keonta Vernon dominated inside all night, finishing with 12 points and 13 rebounds. Fredrick Edmond added 23 points. Shaq Carr distributed the ball well all night, dishing out nine assists.
It was the first time CSI men's head coach Jared Phay faced the team he coached for the past 10 years.
The Golden Eagles, who won't play at home until late January, improved to 14-0 overall.
