TWIN FALLS, Idaho - The 3rd-ranked College of Southern Idaho volleyball team fell to 5th-ranked Salt Lake CC 27-29, 16-25, 25-23, 25-22, 17-15 and 13th-ranked Frank Phillips 25-18, 25-19, 21-25, 23-25, 21-19 Saturay in the Starr Corporation Invitational.
Against Salt Lake, the Golden Eagles had control of the match, winning the first two games and seemed ready to put the match away when CSI's setter Barbara Alcantara collided with outside hitter Elisa Brochado and Alcantara had to come out of the game.
Salt Lake rallied to take game three and four before Alcantara returned and tried to rally the Eagles. CSI led early in the fifth game 10-5 but became tentative at the net and watched the match slip away.
Brochado led the Eagles with 16 kills and 10 digs. Alyssa Everett finished with a season high eight blocks for CSI. She added 8 kills.
In the match against Frank Phillips, the Golden Eagles had to fight from behind all match, losing the first two sets before battling back to tie it at 2-2 and then eventually losing the fifth and final game.
Elisa Brochado led CSI with 15 kills and 5 blocks.
CSI moves to 14-4 on the season.
