One of Idaho's most decorated volleyball players, Whitney Bower joined the CSI Volleyball Staff for the 2024 season. A setter from Nampa, Idaho, Bower played her high school career at Skyview High School, leading the Hawks to back-to-back 4A State Championships. A two-time PrepVolleyball.com High School All American and top 50 junior recruit by PrepVolleyball.com, Bower left high school a year early to begin her competitive college career at BYU in 2019. She is one of seven girls and BYU and volleyball definitely ran in the family. Her mom, Caroline, was an outside hitter at BYU, her father Danny was a shooting guard for BYU Men's Basketball and her grandfather, Wayne played football at BYU. During her time at BYU, Whitney played with her sisters Morgan and Eden. Eden is still competing for BYU along with their sister Alex this season.Â
Due to Covid, Bower was able to play five seasons for the Cougars.
While there, she was a 3-time All-American, an AVCA Southwest All-Region selection and an All-Big 12 First Team selection. She also earned West Coast Conference Player of the Year and Setter of the Year honors before BYU switched to the Big 12.
She finishes her career as the all-time rally scoring era assists lead, tallying 4,583 assists in her career. She also is first in the history books in sets played, second in service aces and third in total digs.
After graduating from BYU, Bower was drafted to the Atlanta Vibe as the ninth overall pick. She helped them to a 19-5 regular season record, giving Atlanta the first Professional Volleyball Federation Regular Season Champions title.
She will return to the Vibe later this fall for the 2025 season.
