Jane Nelson begins her first season with the Golden Eagle Women's Basketball Program just two years after she left it as a player. Nelson, who played basketball at CSI in 2016-17 and 2017-18 continued her education and playing career at Eastern Oregon University the past two years.
"Jane has been through our program and knows what I expect," said CSI Head Coach Randy Rogers. "She has played at both the two-year and four-year level and has a leadership quality that makes players want to follow her example. She won't be outworked and so the players have a ton of respect for her. Her energy is contagious and she will be a great addition to our program."
At CSI, Nelson averaged 8.0 points and 1.8 rebounds per game as a freshman and 5.1 points and 1.9 rebounds per game as a sophomore. The Golden Eagles went 43-20 during her two seasons.
At Eastern Oregon the past two years, Nelson helped the Mountaineers to the national tournament as a junior and posted big numbers both years on the court. As a junior, she averaged 10 points and 2.9 rebounds per game. As a senior, she averaged 11.1 points, 3.7 rebounds, 1 steal and 1.9 assists per game. She led Eastern Oregon in scoring and was named to the Cascade Conference all-conference team as well as an NAIA honorable mention All-American.
