Nick Baumert joined the Golden Eagles as the head softball coach in 2006. He earned 2007 Region 18 Coach of the Year his very first season and was voted 2011, 2013, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2022 and 2025 Region 18 Coach of Year as well. In 2022  the Golden Eagles won the Region 18 Title and finished 9th at the NJCAA National Tournament. CSI won the Region 18 Championship again in 2023. In 2024, the Golden Eagles earned an at-large berth to nationals, taking 9th at the NJCAA National Tournament and then followed that up in 2025 with a SWAC Title, a Region 18 Title and CSI's fourth straight trip to the JUCO World Series.
In 2008, Baumert led CSI to a Region 18 Championship and brought home a 9th-place finish at the NJCAA National Tournament. In 2014, CSI won the Scenic West Athletic Conference title and the Region 18 title, qualifying for the NJCAA National Tournament in St. George. The Golden Eagles won the 2018 Scenic West Athletic Conference Title, the Region 18 Title and finished 7th at the NJCAA National Tournament, the highest finish so far in the program's short existence. The Golden Eagles have cracked the top 10 in the NJCAA National Poll in 12 of the 18 seasons. The Golden Eagles have earned NJCAA Academic team honors 19 straight years.
CSI has competed in the Region 18 Championship game every year of its existence. In his 18Â years at CSI, Baumert has compiled a 808-336-2 record.
During their 19Â seasons, the Golden Eagles have had 33Â All-Americans, 45Â NFCA All-West selections, 18Â NFCA All-Americans and 107Â NJCAA Academic All-Americans.
    Prior to being hired to start a brand new program at CSI, Baumert coached high school softball.
    As the Twin Falls High School varsity coach for seven seasons, Baumert led the Bruins to a 159-46 record. He won the Region III title five times and placed fifth three times at the state tournament.
    Throughout his high school coaching career, he coached one high school All-American, six Region III Players of the Year and 29 Region III first team selections. He also helped 12 players continue their softball career at the college level.
    Baumert received coach of the year accolades five times for Region III, twice for the Times-News and seven times from the District IV coaches. Baumert was named Distinguished Softball Coach of the Year for Idaho in 2006.
    Baumert is married to Karen. They have two daughters, Katelynn and Kylie.
