Molli Morgan begins her first season as an assistant coach for the College of Southern Idaho Softball Program.
Morgan comes to CSI from Angelina College in Texas. She was the pitching coach there for one year in a program that won the NJCAA National Championship in 2014 and was the national runner up in 2019. When Covid-19 hit campuses last spring, Angelina suspended all athletics until the fall of 2021. Angelina's loss became CSI's gain as the Golden Eagles were able to bring Morgan to Twin Falls.
"We feel very lucky to have found Molli and we are so excited she wanted to come join the CSI Family," said CSI Head Coach Nick Baumert. "She brings an expertise to the program in that she was a very successful pitcher. She has a passion for coaching, which is very evident and cares a lot about winning as well as developing great people."
Morgan had an outstanding high school and college career.
She played her high school ball at Paola High School in Kansas, where she competed in basketball, volleyball and softball. She was a Kansas 4A Softball First Team All-State and First Team All-Frontier League selection two years and named Tri-County Spot Light Pitcher of the Year in 2012.
Morgan played her college career at Ottawa University, earning a degree in Exercise Science Cum Laude with Distinction Honors. During her playing career there, she was named the 2017 KCAC Pitcher of the Year, 1st Team All-KCAC, NAIA 2nd Team All-American and KCAC Scholar-Athlete. She also was named to the 2017 NAIA All-World Series Team, the first OU player in the program's history to earn the honor. She holds the Braves' softball program single-season records for wins (33), innings pitched (307.2) and ERA (1.75). She is second on the program's list for the single-season strikeout record and holds career records for pitching wins and innings pitched, career appearances and career starts.
After her playing career, Morgan spent one year as an assistant at Davis and Elkins College and two years as an assistant at Bethany College before making the move to Angelina.
She will focus on pitchers and catchers at CSI.
