Josh Dees begins his fourth season with the College of Southern Idaho men’s basketball program.
Dees has been here since day one of Steve Gosar’s head coaching career at CSI and has helped rebuild the program from having only 1 returning player for the 2008-2009 season to winning the NJCAA National Championship this past year when the Golden Eagles defeated Midland College 72-64 in the title game. In his first three seasons at CSI, the Golden Eagles have amassed a record of 81-19.
Dees’ duties on the CSI staff include recruiting, game-scouting, and working with the development of CSI’s guard players. Dees had an integral role in the development of past CSI guards Pierre Jackson (2010-2011 National Player of the Year, Baylor signee), Carrick Felix (Arizona State), Darius Smith (UCONN transfer, Eastern Illinois signee), and Charles Odum (Portland St, Big Sky New-comer of the year). Since coming on-board at CSI, Dees has established himself as a strong recruiter not only in the South, but also across the nation.
Dees came to CSI from Colorado State where he was a graduate assistant in 2007. Prior to that, he played basketball at the University of Wyoming and then Western Carolina University as a point guard. He was named to the All-Southern Conference Academic Team and was named Western Carolina’s student-athlete of the year in 2006-2007.  In the spring of 2007, he graduated Suma Cum Laude from Western Carolina with a bachelor’s degree in political science/pre-law. In 2008, he received the WCU Political Science Distinguished Graduate Award.
While in college, Dees served as an assistant camp director at Billy Gillespie’s University of Kentucky basketball camps as well as assisted at Steve McClain’s University of Wyoming basketball camps.  In 2006, Dees was a Special Olympic Coach, training Jason Hedrick for the 2006 Special Olympics Summer Games. Hedrick earned gold in the 200 meters and silver in the 400 meters at the event.
Josh is the son of Benny Dees who was Gosar’s head coach at the University of Wyoming. Benny also was the head coach at New Orleans, Virginia Commonwealth, and Western Carolina.
Josh is married to the former Jennifer Nunn. Jennifer is a pharmacist at the local Wal-greens in Twin Falls. They have a bulldog named Alfred.
