PRICE, Utah - The CSI Women's Soccer team fell to Utah State University-Eastern 2-0 on Thursday afternoon, marking the first loss of the 2026 season for the Golden Eagles.
Fresh off of a 22 goal outburst against Pacific Northwest Christian on Saturday, the Golden Eagles were hoping to carry that momentum into a big road trip, but ultimately came up empty, failing to convert on 10 shot attempts in the shutout defeat.
USU-Eastern jumped out to an early lead after a penalty kick off of the foot of Brookley Rasussen in the 16th minute. Rasussenwasn't finished there as she added her second goal just seconds before the halftime whistle to give the Eagles a 2-0 lead that they would ultimately hang on to.
The Golden Eagles were able to create some scoring opportunities in the first half, ending the period with seven shots, but struggled to maintain the offensive attack in the second half, only mustering three shots in their comeback effort.
Annie Layton led the way with three shots, while the Golden Eagles two shots on goal came from freshmen
Lily Lowe and
Macey Call.
Avery Charlesworth got the loss in goal for the Golden Eagles surrendering the two first half goal and making six saves.
The Golden Eagles will look to get back in the win column against 6th-ranked Salt Lake Community College, as they will take on the Bruins at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 19.
