SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - The CSI Women's Soccer team let an early lead slip away down the stretch of the second half in a 3-1 loss at the hands of the 6th-ranked Salt Lake on Saturday morning.
Looking to avoid their second straight loss, the Golden Eagles got off to a great start,getting three shots on goal, including a 16th minute goal from
Elektra Cresswell that gave the Golden Eagles an early lead. The shots in the first half were nearly even as Salt Lake outshot the Golden Eagles by a slim margin of 4-3.
The second half was a different story altogether, as the Bruins came out on the attack getting off 14 shots in the second half alone, while the Golden Eagles were held shot less for the duration of the period. The Bruins were finally able to break through when they awarded a penalty kick in the 67th minute, that was converted by Seanna Harris to tie the game at 1-1. That Bruin goal would open the floodgates as they found the back of the net twice more in the next 12 minutes of game action to put the game out of reach.
All three of the Golden Eagles shots were on goal, as
Brielle Cooper and
Presley Houghton accounted for the other two.
Avery Charlesworth got the loss in goal for the Golden Eagles, making six saves in the defeat.
The Golden Eagles, now 4-2-0, will return home for a nice long home stretch, beginning on Thursday, when they host Colorado Northwestern at 1:00 p.m.
