TWIN FALLS, Idaho - The CSI Volleyball team got off to a hot start in a huge two game set as they knocked off the 14th-ranked Snow College Badgers 25-21, 25-19, 25-16 in straight sets on Friday night.
The Golden Eagles took a seven point lead right out of the gate and never looked back as they were able to hold on to the set one victory and followed that up with impressive showings in the final two sets. With both teams vying for the top spot in the Scenic West, the Golden Eagles played a clean game, hitting .213 as a team getting their offensive attack rolling thanks to a minimal three receiving errors.
Vivian Goto paced the Golden Eagle offensive attack, as she finished with a game high 12 kills, while
Isadora Bueno pitched in seven kills on just 12 attempts, good for a .583 hitting percentage. Defensively,
Emerson Heatwole led the way with 14 digs, while
Emma Pannell pitched in nine, and
Laura Grasel was a force at the net, leading the team with four block assists. The Golden Eagle duo of setters combined for 31 assists, with
Dalayni Brindley finishing with 18 and
Mary Irwin with 13.
The Golden Eagles, now 15-5 overall and 4-1 in conference play, will take the floor once again tomorrow for a huge second match against the Badgers, beginning at 12:00 p.m.
