CSI to induct two into Athletics Hall of Fame

TWIN FALLS, Idaho - The College of Southern Idaho is excited to announce the distinguished inductees into the CSI Athletic Hall of Fame Class of 2025. The two inductees will join 26 previously inducted members.
These honorees exemplify the excellence, leadership and service that define the CSI Athletics legacy and tradition. The CSI Athletics Hall of Fame Celebration will take place on Friday, April 25 in the CSI Gymnasium and will honor two exceptional individuals whose contributions have made a lasting impact on Golden Eagle Athletics, the college and the community.
This year's CSI Athletic Hall of Fame Class includes a former coach and a former athlete.
Lindsey Anderson, who was hired to resurrect the CSI Cross Country and Distance Track Program in 2017, created nationally recognized teams from the start. In her first season, she led the women's team to a fourth-place finish at the NJCAA Division I Cross Country National Championships and the men to a sixth-place finish. The Golden Eagles also had the Men's Individual National Champion that year. In 2020, she led the men's team to a national runner-up finish and the women's team to a third-place finish. Anderson coached for five years at CSI, reaching the peak of coaching accomplishments with a NJCAA Division I Cross Country National Championship in 2021 on the women's side. She also was named the NJCAA Coach of the Year. Her legacy lived on the next year as the Golden Eagles, with four of the same runners, won a second straight national championship.
Not only was she an accomplished coach but she also was a talented runner. She competed for the United States at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China, in the 3000m Steeplechase. She continued her training while coaching at CSI and qualified for the Olympic Trials in the Marathon for the 2000 Olympic Games. From CSI, Anderson took her talents to the University of Missouri, where she was the head Cross Country Coach for one year. After that, she made the move back to Weber State University to coach. She started her running career at Weber State, running for the Wildcats from 2003 to 2007. She ended her collegiate career as a two-time All American in the 3000m Steeplechase and Indoor 5000m; and a school record holder in the 3000m Steeplechase, 10,000m and Indoor 5000m.
Dennis Bowyer (Class of 1977), who is a Twin Falls Community icon, was a member of the 1976 College of Southern Idaho Men's Basketball NJCAA National Championship team. During his two years at CSI, he helped the Golden Eagles to a 34-1 record in 1975-76 and a 32-2 record in 1976-77. Bowyer was a part of the two teams that set a national win streak of 49 games. In 1976, he played on the Junior Pan American Basketball Team that won a silver and gold medal in Brazil. Prior to competing for CSI, Bowyer played on the first state championship basketball team at Twin Falls High School in 1974. In 1975, the Bruins took second at state and Bowyer was a first team All-State selection and a first team All-Conference pick. After CSI, Bowyer finished his basketball playing career at Whitworth University in Spokane, Wash.
Bowyer has also made his mark in the Magic Valley. He was a the City of Twin Falls Recreation Supervisor from 1981 to 1996 and then promoted to Director of Parks & Recreation for the City of Twin Falls in May 1996, where he stayed until retirement in June of 2015. He oversaw the development and management of parks, recreation activities, canyon rim trails, municipal golf course, municipal swimming pool and all other activities and development pertaining to parks and recreation for the City of Twin Falls. Bowyer has been a Twin Falls Optimist Club member since 1982 and was the President from 1986-1987. A member of the Idaho Recreation and Parks Association, he received the Dr. Leon Green Fellowship Award (their highest award) from IRPA in 2003 and 2014. Bowyer was a Boys and Girls Club of Magic Valley Board Member from 1993-2000 and the President of the board from 1993-1995. Bowyer has been a Twin Falls Community Foundation Board Member since June of 2016 and was on the Magic Valley Arts Council Board of Directors from 2017 to 2023.
Bowyer received the Twin Falls Chamber of Commerce Lifetime Achievement Award in April of 2024, the Blue Lake Rotary Club Community Service Award in 1993-94 and the Rotarian's Paul Harris Award in 2015 and 2024.
CSI Athletics is still in his blood as Bowyer can be seen at all the home CSI Basketball games working on the scorer's table and sometimes even rolling the ball cart back and forth for the teams.
