RANGELY, Colo. - The College of Southern Idaho Baseball Team beat Colorado Northwestern 11-4 in game one before falling 7-6 in game two Friday in Scenic West Athletic Conference play.
The Golden Eagles pounded 10 hits highlight by a
Mack Evans grand slam.
Kason O'Neil was 2-for-4 with two RBI,
Calvin Morrow was 1-for-1,
Tayson Howard was 2-for-3,
Jack Ryan was 2-for-2 and
Jack Barker was 2-for-4.
Braxton Yates earned the win, going five innings and giving up four earned runs on five hits with three strikeouts.
Degan Rigby got the Save coming in with CSI up just 5-4 to get the save. He went two innings, giving up no earned runs on no hits with four strikeouts.
The Golden Eagles took the 5-4 lead going into the sixth inning but Colorado Northwestern punched four runs across in the sixth and three in the eighth to take the 7-5 lead. CSI could only plate one in the top of the ninth.
Morrow was 3-for-3 with a double, O'Neil was 2-for-4 with two doubles and
Kolton Hicks was 1-for-2 with two RBI.
Shay Benson pitched the first 5.1 innings, giving up three earned runs on five hits with three strikeouts.
Caden Fenger pitched the final inning, giving up no runs on no hits with one strikeout.
Coleman Bobb took the loss, pitching 1.2 innings and giving up three earned runs on four hits.
CSI, 27-19 overall and 5-9 in conference play, takes on Colorado Northwestern again Saturday.
