TWIN FALLS, Idaho - The 17th-ranked College of Southern Idaho Men's Basketball beat North Idaho College 79-70 in the Battle for the Boot Championship Saturday.
The two Idaho teams beat teams from Wyoming, Texas, Florida, Washington and Nebraska to make the final against each other.
Ace Reiser shined for the Golden Eagles all weekend but was key in the championship win, finishing with 23 points, six rebounds, six steals and three assists.Brothers
Cooper Kesler and
Kobe Kesler came off the bench to spark CSI as well. C. Kesler finished with 13 points, two rebounds and two steals and K. Kesler had 11 points and two steals.
Ben Thornbrue finished with eight points and seven rebounds, while
Nathan Ahner had five points, five rebounds, four assists and two blocks.
Two Golden Eagle players were all named to the all-tournament team. Reiser was named the tournament MVP, while Ahner earned all-tournament honors. Others named to the team included Sean Register Jr. of Eastern Florida, Nate Coley of McCook, Justus Haseley of North Idaho and Ajayi Simmons of North Idaho.
CSI's Jeff Reinert was named the coach of the tournament.
Eastern Florida defeated Clarendon for third place, Columbia Basin defeated Western Wyoming for fifth place and McCook beat Casper for 7th place earlier on Saturday.
The Golden Eagles, 5-0 overall, host Umpqua Thursday at 7 p.m. for a scrimmage game.
