SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - The 16th-ranked College of Southern Idaho Volleyball Team fought to the end with Snow College, ultimately losing to the Badgers 24-26, 25-15, 25-27, 25-16, 16-14 Wednesday in the semifinal of the Region 18 Tournament.
The Golden Eagles struggled to put the ball away all night, hitting just .066 to .282 for Snow. The Badgers out-blocked CSI 16-8 on the night.
On the flip side, CSI dominated the Badgers at the service line. The Golden Eagles posted eight service errors and just seven errors, while Snow had six aces and 18 service errors.
CSI's right sides created most of the Golden Eagles offense for the night.
Isabel Smart led the way with 12 kills, four digs and three blocks.
Ava Pond added 10 kills and two blocks.
Dalayni Brindley finished with 23 assists and six digs for the Golden Eagles and
Hazuna Akishige anchored the defense with 23 digs.
Zeynep Balci had a team-high five blocks.
CSI, 18-9 overall and 7-3 in conference play. There is a chance the Golden Eagles could earn an at-large berth to the NJCAA National Tournament with their 16th ranking and four at-large berths given but they will have to wait a week to find out.
