TWIN FALLS, Idaho - The 16th-ranked College of Southern Idaho Women's Basketball Team won its eighth straight game, taking down ninth-ranked Shelton State 69-64 in the Battle for the Boot Championship Saturday.
The Golden Eagles used a stingy defense, forcing 18 turnovers and scoring 21 points off those turnovers for the game.
Samara Morrow came up clutch for CSI all night. The sophomore guard finished with 25 points, five rebounds, two assists and two steals in the game. She knocked down key free throws in the ending for the Golden Eagles as well, making 9-of-11 for the game.
Savannah Stoker finished with 16 points, eight rebounds, two assists and three steals, while
Ashley Garner posted 10 points and eight rebounds.
Naomi Senato was a huge spark for the Golden Eagles off the bench. The freshman guard had six points, six rebounds, four assists, two steals and two blocks.Â
CSI out-rebounded the Bucs 37-29 for the game.
Representing the Golden Eagles on the all-tournament team was
Savannah Stoker.
Samara Morrow was named MVP. The other players selected included Sydney Huskey of Monroe College, Cecy Burruel of Cochise College and Nadia Norfleet of Shelton State.
Randy Rogers was named the coach of the tournament.
CSI, 8-0 overall, hosts the ICCU Invitational Friday and Saturday.
