TWIN FALLS, Idaho - The College of Southern Idaho led for most of the game, hanging on to beat fifth-ranked Salt Lake 70-65 Wednesday to open Scenic West Athletic Conference play.
The Golden Eagles out-shot the Bruins from the field, long range and at the free-throw line, leading by as much as 14 points in the second half.Â
Jaylon Johnson led CSI with 22 points along with five rebounds and three assists.
Asim Jones added 14 points and six assists and
Walker Timme had 10 points.
With 1:20 left in the game and the Golden Eagles trailing 65-63,
Jordan Hamilton drained a 3-pointer to give CSI the lead for good. CSI added two more points after a Hamilton steal and then he gave the Golden Eagles their final tally on two made free throws with seven second to play.Â

Shahid Muhammad came up big all night inside, finishing with 12 rebounds and six blocks.
Sam Phipps was also a big presence inside, posting seven points and nine rebounds.
The Golden Eagles will look to go 2-0 in conference play when they host #10 Snow on Saturday at 3 p.m.
