PRICE, Utah - The seventh-ranked College of Southern Idaho Women's Basketball Team struggled to score Wednesday but a stifling defense saved the day and gave the Golden Eagles a 54-45 win over USU Eastern and increased CSI's lead in the conference standings to 1.5 games.
The Golden Eagles shot just 29 percent from the field and 15 percent from long range. But they held USU Eastern to 28 percent from the field and 10 percent from the 3-point line. They also forced USUE to 15 turnovers while committing only eight.
Kali Haizlip led CSI with 11 points. She added five rebounds.
Livia Knapp scored 10 points and was the only other CSI player in double-figure scoring.
Kaylee Headrick posted seven points and eighth rebounds,
Kennedy Eskelson had five points, six rebounds and six steals and
Alyssa Christensen had eight points and three assists.
CSI, now 18-2 overall and 7-1 in conference play, hosts Southern Nevada Saturday at 1 p.m.
