TWIN FALLS, Idaho - The College of Southern Idaho Baseball Team couldn't overcome a rough sixth inning, falling to 10th-ranked Salt Lake CC 6-1 Thursday in the opening game of their Scenic West Athletic Conference series.
The Golden Eagles took the early 1-0 lead on a home run by
Tyler Curtis in the fourth. SLCC answered with a home run in the fifth before the Bruins took advantage of some CSI miscues to take the 4-1 lead in the sixth and then held on for the win.
Both teams finished the game with six hits but CSI's three errors proved costly.
Tate Gambill was 3-for-4 at the plate for the Golden Eagles and was the only CSI player with more than one hit.
Mason Olson earned the loss, going six innings and giving up one earned run on three hits with seven strikeouts.
CSI, 28-13 overall and 16-11 in conference play, hosts Salt Lake for a doubleheader Friday at noon.
